Launch event
Please join us at The Science Museum’s Dana Centre on Wednesday 6 July as we launch the 2011 expedition, celebrate our last 10 years and invite you to explore our new home at the Dana Centre.
For 10 years Cape Farewell has worked to instigate a cultural shift in our thinking in a rapidly changing world. The journey has been challenging but also enjoyable and fruitful, thanks to the incredible support from so many of you. Please come and join the Cape Farewell team, voyagers and partners old and new to celebrate our recent move to the Dana Centre and hear what we are up to.
Where Dana Centre, 165 Queen’s Gate, South Kensington, London SW7 5HD.
When Wed 6 July, 7-9pm
David Buckland will comment on the past 10 years and introduce our forthcoming programme of work, including the opening of UVA’s digital exhibition High Arctic at the National Maritime Museum (14 July 2011 – January 2012) inspired by Matt Clark’s involvement in our 2010 Arctic expedition.
Ruth Little will launch the Scottish Islands programme, our 10th Art & Science Expedition investigating the impact of climate change on the cultures and ecologies of Scotland’s island communities (15 July – 12 August 2011). Former voyagers – including artists and scientists Jonathan Dove, Siobhan Davies, Nick Drake, Debora Iglesias Rodriguez, Matt Clark, David Lan, Peter Clegg and Chris Wainwright – will share their memories of Arctic expeditions and offer an insight into how their involvement in our expedition programme affected their thinking and practice.
And we invite you to explore our new home in the Dana Centre, a hub of conversation and dialogue around contemporary science communication and education.
We are very much looking forward to celebrating with you.
Hope to see you there.
