In July 2011 Cape Farewell embarked on a month-long expedition by boat across the Scottish Islands, bringing the notion and experience of expedition home to the UK, with an exploration of island ecologies and cultures, and of the strategies for sustainable and resilient futures being implemented across the Scottish Isles. The Crew

The expedition crew of 40 includes island artists, storytellers, film makers, playwrights, architects, designers, musicians, community leaders, social scientists, ecologists, marine biologists, oceanographers, poets, acclaimed Gaelic singers and a chef.

Nina Horstmann

Joins the expedition for week 1

Nina Horstmann is Project Coordinator at Cape Farewell. Nina has worked at Cape Farewell for three years and is project manager of a number of Cape Farewell initiatives, including Cape Farewell’s new international touring exhibition, Unfold. She joined Cape Farewell’s 2010 Art/Science Expedition to the Arctic.

Prior to moving to London, Nina has a Masters degree in Art History and Classical Archaeology and worked as a consultant to museums for their visitor services and she managed the whole operative visitor service for the documenta 12 in Kassel. Among her portfolio of cultural projects is the organisation of a media and architecture biennale as well as the editing of several publications and time spent within the MEDIA department of the European Commission.
