Ruth Brennan
Joins the expedition for week 2
Ruth Brennan works as a marine social ecologist in the Centre for Socially and Ecologically Sustainable Coasts. After having practised as a solicitor for several years she moved into the world of marine policy via a Masters degree in Coastal and Ocean Policy at Plymouth University during 2006-2007. Her research interests include the coupled social-ecological aspects of marine policy with a particular interest in community participation in regional marine planning. A trained facilitator, she enjoys experimenting with innovative facilitation techniques.
She is currently working part-time on a PhD which aims to gain insights into the roots of conflicts around environmental designations to protect the marine environment through exploring the local cultural and historical context of the affected community.
