Cape Farewell Youth Expedition 2007

Hello all,

 We’re nearly on our way, it’s been an intense four days so far, we’v had lots of workshops about working as a scientist, thinking like an artist, using media and interview techniques and team building exercises. We’ve taken part in the launch event on Sunday, and there are many photos on the site of that, a great event where all the stduents did a performance and then went down to the pier and got into inflatable ribs (big dinghies) and rode up and down the river, including going under Tower Bridge – awesome!! I have met some really inspirational people, most of whom are the students going on the voyage, they are a really intelligent, creative and lively bunch of students who are already working really well together as a team, I am proud to be working with them.

We leave for the Arctic tomorrow and I am sooooo excited!! Probably won’t get much sleep tonight. Will miss everyone I know in the UK, thanks to everyone who has suppoerted me on this wonderful adventure and I will see you all soon!!

Hey Peeps:D

So far, i’ve been very busy. We had a launch 2 days ago. At the launch we did a movement dance thingy, i qiuvaaq and the others moved with it.

After that we went boating and was vidoe taped so i think it’ll show. i hope you guys saw all the interviews i had to do since i was here.

Oh, And Almost Forgot!, make sure all of you, see my video, that should show on thurday the 20th of sept at 10 O’clock. I Should be on at 10:30 in the same morning, answering your questions.

I hope ya’ll ive me some awesome quesions, that will give me more to actually think about. And with some of the questions, i should be answerin with a video!.

I’m really enjoying being with all the team, they’re all awseome & we all have a great laugh together. Yesterday was fab, T4 interviewed us & we’re going on T4 on the 4th November at 12 O’clock,really can’t wait…WOOH! It’s going to look really weird watching myself on T4…YEAH! After that the interviews they followed to Pizza Express and filmed Hayley, Akash, Shona, Jethro & Myself talking to Rick, the (HOT) T4 presenter,he’s great fun! It’s really great being here with everyone from Canada & Germany & it seems everyone has a really cool accent, except me. IT’S NOT FAIR! Suba seems to like my acccent and tries to recreate it in her own way, HILARIOUS!

I can’t wait to hear from you all so please blog me & ask me questions.

Hello all.
It is now 2 days after the official launch of the youth expedition and my last full day in my home country so this should be my final message before I set off into the wilderness on an expedition of a lifetime.

Sunday’s launch was very exciting as it involved a very fast dinghy ride around the Thames after a lot of planning and rehearsing of some performances we had to give to everyone present at the launch. Yesterday (Monday) was the day we used for planning art projects and for doing some interviews with T4 (which i found very nerve-racking). Today we are discussing our science projects and practising blogging for when we are actually on the boat.

So, I hope to hear from you soon. A video of mine will be uploaded on tuesday the 18th and will be available from 11:00 (UK time) and 30 minutes later I will be available to answer questions/take comments.

Hallo, ich bins Franzi, herzlich Willkommen in meinem Blog. Die letzten Tage waren sehr aufregend, auch wenn ich noch nicht in der Arktis bin. Wir werden hier in London auf den Workshop vorbereitet, besprechen die Kunst und Wissenschafts Projekte mit den Lehrern und Kuenstlern. Am Sonntag gab es hier eine grosse Feier, wir haben uns im Southbankcenter vorgestellt und eine unglaubliche Bootsfahrt auf der Themse gemacht. Alle sind sehr nett und wir koennen es kaum erwarten endlich in die Arktis zu fahren!!!! Wenn ihr Fragen oder Anregungen habt, oder mir Nahrichten schicken wollt, koennt ihr das gerne machen, nur bitte vor Donnerstag Abend. Denn Freitag werde ich live eure Fragen beantworten. Ich freu mich darauf, tschuess und bis bald in Hamburg!!!

Hello everyone, now the same text in english. I’m having a wonderfull time in London. Sunday there was a big launch and we did a very funny boat trip on the Thames. yesterday we were talking to art teachers toady is science. We also had an interview with T4. Was amazing.

HeY GuyS!!!!

Thank you all so much for your comments… you all feel like such a long way away right now! Was nice to hear some people from the ‘castle’ as Canford has been nicknamed by the people here…

I am now so used to have a camera in my face the whole time it feels weird when there isn’t one there! The launch was amazing but so busy – straight from the presentation to the trip down the river in our coats and hats holding these massive flags – we looked so cool…. I’m sorry only a few people could come – would have loved to see more of you guys – thank you so much for coming to see me!

Have learnt so much in the last couple of days – from how to think like a scientist to how to answer a question from some horrible journalist… had an interview from T4 which was exciting – well meeting the presenter was – he was gorgeous..!
