Science Project
Josef wants to investigate how plankton populations have changed. He will take plankton samples and compare his results with data taken 25 years ago. Plankton are a good indicator of key changes to the ocean and the Arctic Food Chain
Art Project
He plans to compose a piece of music to convey his feelings based on what he learns and experiences whilst in the Artic.

Hey Joe! – riff that Geetarr bigstyle!! – and make it large for another 30p! –have a great time and make every second count (did you remember to pack the Polar Bear repellant spray?) dont leave any single socks lying around the arctic – love Mum&Dad&Sam&Ellie&Smidge.
HI, congratulations!
Hi Josef,
i am deeply impressed by your project; i am not a scientist but looking forward to getting the results of your plankton comparison study. I have never been to the Arctic but i can imagine that you will never forget this exceptional experience.
Wish you a lot of fun during the next days and a lot of success with regard to your music composition. Most probably this will reflect your
personal feeling during this trip. Good luck !!!
Stefan Bertram/Germany
Dear joe,
I was wondering how cold it is in the arctic? and have you seen a polar bear? And is santa’s work shop really there? And are U

“This is really great! you have a fantastic opportunity and I am becoming very envious indeed ! How long do you stay there?
Thank you for this “incredible” but very interesting and exciting information!” Anna (Italia)
“Hello Jozef, I am working with your father, he told me you have this incredible adventure, I see it. I like you to have a queston for me, what is the optimum condition for plankton generation, what difference will it be in the future?”

hey Joe its Jamie were all green with envy here in england but hoping your having a good time and representing the school anyway have a good time Joe from Jamie 🙂 🙂 p.s bring me a seal back i need a new pet
Joe – hope that you have a fantastic time, i know that you will make the most of it. Look forward to hearing all about it and seeing the pictures.
Ey up Joe? Neil here (the guy who shares lifts to work with your dad). I hope you’re soaking up every second on this trip of a lifetime. I don’t know much about science – I should have stopped squirting kids with pipettes at school and payed more attention – but what is it about plankton that can be used to monitor the environment? Is it the population of plankton or some characteristic you’re looking at? Also, before you collect any data, do you have any expectations of what you might see?
I can identify with plankton; sometimes working here we feel like plankton – bottom of the food chain trying to cling to life in what some might call a far out northern place!
Good luck and make the most of it. Nothing much happening in Barrow. It’s going to rain all day Sunday.
Neil

Hello Stefan,
Thank you for showing interest in the project. I have no doubt that I wont forget this experience either.
Hello Anna,
I stayed up in the Arctic for the best part of 2 weeks and I enjoyed every moment.
Hello Jamie,
You don’t need a new pet because you have enough animals already! Thanks for supporting me and being a good mate.
Hello Miss Lucas,
Thanks also for showing support. Do i have to catch up on loads of RE work now? Hopefully we’re all going to swap our pictures so I’ll give you them when i have everyone’s pictures.
Hello Neil,
We were looking at how plankton were affected by different levels of salinity. We were estimating populations based on samples taken from different sites with different salinities. We are still going through results, although we have found that species of plankton varied greatly from salinity and depth.
Hey Joe hayley here just to say i miss you so much and hopefully we can see eachother soon so miss ya lv ya xxxxx
